A Real Page From the Guide

This is what you get — exactly

Every address carries a star rating and the month of our last visit. Here are two of the 20+ restaurant entries in the full guide.

Nice, French Riviera for Two — Marc & SarahWhere to Eat — Our Tables
Lou Balico⭐⭐— the institutionlast visit Oct 2025

Family institution since 1979, holder of the official “Cuisine Nissarde” label — a certification fewer than 30 establishments hold. The pan bagnat is exceptional, the fresh pasta with pistou is what we order. Around €35–45. Reservation essential. Closed Sunday and Monday evening.

20-22 Avenue Saint-Jean-Baptiste — 10 min from Place Masséna
L’Escalinada⭐⭐— grandma’s recipes since 1952last visit June 2025

Three generations serving the same grandmother’s recipes in a tiny beamed dining room — or on the lovely sunny terrace, which is where we sit. The New York Times has been here. Order the daube with handmade gnocchi. Menu €24–26. Cash only — no cards. Open Sunday, closed Wednesday.

22 rue Pairolière, Old Nice, near Place Garibaldi
Le Séjour Café⭐⭐last visit March 2026

Michelin-selected, one Gault & Millau toque, and a blackboard that changes every single day. The dining room feels like the sitting room of a lovely private mansion. Lunch formula €28 is a steal; dinner à la carte €35–55.

…and 17 more restaurants, 7 hotels, 5 day trips, and 3/4/5-day itineraries in the full guide

About the Authors

This is what we tell friends
when they visit

We’re a couple in our fifties who fell in love with Nice, moved here more than five years ago, and never left. This guide is everything we tell our own visiting friends — the restaurants we return to, the hotel we’d book for our best friends, the tram mistake every visitor makes at the airport.

Not a travel agency. Not a blogger. We live here, and this is what we know firsthand. Every buyer gets one question answered by email — personally, within 48 hours.

The Difference

Why This Guide

1

Written from experience, not from the internet

Every restaurant, hotel, and address comes from us — from meals we've eaten, places we've walked, things we've learned living here. No algorithm decided what's worth your time. We did.

2

Every address is personally tested and dated

Each recommendation carries a star rating and the month of our last visit. When we haven't tested something ourselves, we say so. That's the difference between advice and content.

3

The Sunday Strategy. The real traps. The honest verdicts.

We warn you about Sunday closures, the airport tram tourists always board by mistake, the market terraces that are tourist traps. This is what we tell friends — not what sells clicks.
